JANUARY NEWSLETTER
Last chance for the 2009 Adelaide Wine Show winners and some other New Year Specials .....
Dear Wine Lover, We hope your 2010 has been good so far, and you have had some lovely wines to drink over the festive sason. As we get into another year of sourcing various medal winners and other wine specials for you, we still have a few remaining packed cases of our ŒPick of the 2009 Adelaide Wine Show¹ selections, (Mixed. All Red and All White) Our collection includes nine Gold Medal winners, three trophy winners (including Best Red in Show and Best Shiraz in Show) and three highly pointed Silver Medal winners. We are now also able to offer all of these wines by the full dozen... so if you have tried some of them over Christmas and found a couple of favourites, here is your chance to stock up before we run out.The wines and their prices by the case are listed on the back page; but please refer to your Christmas newsletter or the website for more details and tasting notes.
In addition to our Wine Show selections, January is always a good time for us to conduct a new year stocktake, and so we always have some interesting leftovers from previous wine offers in our Rats and Mice and Premium Mixed selections. Some of the wines we currently have broken cases of include: Nobilo NZ Sauvignon Blanc,Babich NZ Sauvignon Blanc, Sams Creek NZ Sauvignon Blanc, Houghtons White Classic, Reillys Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, Donovans Grampians Shiraz,Wyndham Bin 555 Shiraz, Annies Lane Shiraz, Rouge Homme Cabernet Sauvignon, Cockatoo Ridge Sparkling ... and many others.
Our Premium Mystery Selections will include some of the 2009 Adelaide Wine Show picks, as well as some other medal winners and specials from last years dozens. So as always, we will be putting together a nice balanced range of wines; which you can order as a mixed case or All Reds or Whites if you prefer. We also have some stocks remaining of the 2005 ŒBosuns Blend¹ Limestone Coast Shiraz Cabernet from Cape Thomas Vineyards. This is a full bodied red blend which has won various medals and trophies over the past few years; still at a special price of $118 dozen. The very popular Reillys ŒBarking Mad¹ Semillon Sauvignon Blanc is also still available at the same price while stocks last, and this would be an excellent drink on a summer evening with a seafood platter.
The McWilliams ŒSelect Series¹ range of wines have also been very popular, and are still available to order overleaf. In addition to these, within the next few days we will be receiving a delivery of some new unlabelled wines . We have had many requests for these as it has been quite a while since we have offered any cleanskins, as it has been a very difficult job to find anything of the quality of our recent export labelled specials in the same price bracket. But these are both very good wines.. as is often the case, the winery has requested that we do not reveal their maker (as the red wine in particular is sold for around twice the price under its domestic label ) but they come from a very well known winery in the Clare Valley.... both are in screwcap bottles and are very good value at $89 dozen
2006 Chardonnay....a lighty oaked Chardonnay showing a nice balance of bottle age and stonefruit characters. 2008 Shiraz .... a medium bodied 100% Shiraz from Clare Valley vineyards. As a young red this is very smooth and shows lovely sweet fruit... although drinking very nicely now should easily handle a couple more years in the cellar if you prefer.
And finally, if you are after some nice bubbles for your Australia Day BBQ or other festivities, the ŒCelebration Sparkling Selection Œ from our pre- Christmas mailout is still available at only $130 for the mixed 6 pack. The full case buys on our Page 3 wine list are also still current while stocks last, as there will not be another full newsletter until shortly before the Easter break. For any updated specials we may receive in the meantime, please join our email list at www.wineloversclub.com.au. Also, please bear in mind that while we always endeavour to send your wine orders as quickly as possible we have already had another hot summer this year and prefer not to have wines despatched on days of extreme heat.
