WINE CLUB DOZEN - ALL RED

With Easter on the way it's time to stock up the wine rack again. In keeping with this theme, we have resurrected a very popular selection of medal winners from selected wine shows. The results from the Royal Sydney Wine Show and Sydney International Wine Competition were both recently released, and we have combed through the results... some of the wines we have picked you will already be familiar with as they have also won medals in previous shows (such as the 2009 Crabtree Riesling and 2008 Penfolds Thomas Hyland Chardonnay, which were awarded Gold Medals and Trophies in both Sydney and Adelaide) and we have also introduced a couple of new wineries to the list.
Here are the wines we have chosen for this new mix-- 2 BOTTLES OF EACH:

Ballast Stone Currency Creek ' Stonemason' Shiraz 2008... Earlier vintages of the Cabernet under this label have been very good sellers for us....they are an excellent range of wines which were originally aimed at the export market, and this Shiraz has now collected one of a very few Gold Medals in its class at the Sydney Wine Show. (Both 2008 Cab Sauv and Shiraz are available while stocks last at only $125 dozen.)

Hastwell and Lightfoot Cab Sauv 2006-- A Blue Gold/ Top 100 pick at Sydney International has just been added to the accolades to this boutique McLaren Vale winery. A lovely balanced wine ideal for cellaring.

Jip Jip RocksShiraz Cabernet 2008 ....This Limestone Coast blend collected a Gold Medal in Adelaide ..
now a Blue Gold /Top 100 wine at the Sydney International and is continuing to develop very nicely.

Richard Hamilton Gumprs Shiraz 2008...A Silver Medal in Sydney has now been added to the Gold and Trophy for Best Shiraz in Show in Adelaide and could be a 10 year proposition if you have the patience.

Schild Estate GMS 2009... 55% Old Vine Grenache blended with 25% Mouvedre and 20% Shiraz, this wine shows lovely berry fruit and is ideal for drinking now -2014.

Xanadu Dragon Cabernet Sauvignon 2007.... This Margaret River winery has had consistent show success and Sydney has been no exception where this excellent Cab Sauv just collected another Gold Medal.
